Guardian Angel Lg, Choc.Gun

The ever so talented Dutch husband-wife team has established their brand "Vlieger & Vandam" as a cult-following bag label since year 2000.

‘Guardian Angel’ was the first in a series of striking bags. It makes a strong statement about growing rates of crime and violence. Each of the bags appears to contain a gun or a knife. The idea grew out of the increasing number of stories in the news that focused on lawlessness and antisocial behaviour. People's perceptions and the fear of violence soon grew to be greater than the number of crimes actually committed. As a response, Vlieger & Vandam wanted to give people the impression of feeling secure, arming them with a ‘Guardian Angel’ handbag.

It wasn't long before their unique, witty inventions have led them all the way to the MoMA-Museum of Modern Art in New York, who exhibited the Guardian Angel bag as part of the new wing's inaugural "Safe, Design Takes on Risks" exhibition in 2005. And following the show, the museum added the bag to its permanent collection.
